laxative foods When laxatives are taken regularly for a prolonged period of time, one or moreadverse effects, some of which are serious and/or dangerous, can occur laxative foods. Laxative abuse can alsolead to gastrointestinal (GI) tract damage, including weakening of intestinalmusculature, loss of GI protein, and cathartic colon, which is a poorly functioningcolon that develops after years of laxative abuse laxative foods. This can lead to an inabilityto have a bowel movement when not taking laxatives (i.e., constipation) laxative foods. Permanentbowel damage usually results if not treated in time laxative foods.
